Accountants take the title in GEAR 10K Bespak Corporate Challenge
Financial services company Stephenson Smart were celebrating today after romping to victory in one of Norfolk’s most popular corporate sporting challenges.
They scooped first prize in the Bespak Corporate Challenge, a popular feature of last month’s GEAR 10K in which firms competed to be crowned fastest team in the event.
The times of the first three team members home were used to calculate the results. Stephenson Smart clocked an average of 43:02 to take first place. In a closely contested race they pipped Williams Refrigeration by 14 seconds, with Lynn News finishing third in 44:17.
Dr Keyvan Djamarani, Bespak’s Business President, said: “We were delighted with the response to the GEAR corporate challenge. It added a bit of friendly rivalry between the companies taking part and was a great opportunity to support some excellent causes.
“Congratulations to the winners and well done to everyone who took part.”
Nicola Christian, sponsorship and corporate manager with event organiser Run For All, said: “The corporate challenge brought an extra element of fun to the GEAR 10K and we are very grateful to Bespak for their support.”
Bespak also provided the prizes for their Mini GEAR 1.2 mile fun run School Competition, which aims to encourage children to be more active. Schools with the most pupils taking part– in relation to the size of the school – pick up the prizes.
Snettisham Primary School was first winning £1000, with St Martha’s Primary School second winning £700 and Walpole Cross Key Primary School in third place with £400.
The GEAR 10K forms part of the lasting legacy of the late Jane Tomlinson, who raised nearly £2m by completing a series of grueling endurance events despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer.
